Using a special app loaded on both the parents’ and child’s handsets, Mom and Dad can monitor everything from calls and texts to even what apps the child is using. Or they can give their kid a digital timeout.

Crawlspace Dweller

This story was a shocker and I never even imagined something like this could happen, but Velma Kellen lived it!  Velma is 73 years old with 3 dogs and other than that, she lives alone... or at least she THOUGHT she did!  

This time of year in Washington where she lives, the average temperature is about 34 degrees and Velma had a NEW furnace... but she wasn’t keeping warm. So she called the repairman.

On the Road Again

Some of you saw this yesterday and wondered, "what in the world is THAT!?"  Especially if you were on the road between Asheville Hiway and Middlebrook Pike! 

It’s big (really big!), weighing 200 tons and it’s called a Cyclotron!

The big ole piece of medical equipment left Forks of the River industrial park around 9 am yesterday morning and ended up at the medical complex over at Dowell Springs Business park.

Tweeting Away Bullying

While stories of online bullying make headlines almost weekly, some teens are combating the cyber abuse by using social media to encourage their peers and highlight others' strengths.

This summer, high-school football captain Kevin Curwick anonymously started targeting bullied teens with kindness on Twitter.

And now another student's kind tweets are in the news.

In late 2011, Jeremiah Anthony, an Iowa City teen, read a story about cyber-bullying and decided to take action. He created a Twitter account to compliment his peers at West High School.
