TN Teen Drivers Are Among the Best!!!

Tennessee came out at the 12th safest state for teen driving!  Here are some of the evaluations:

ADHD Recommendations

There are new guidelines out from the nations pediatricians and their recommendations for treating ADHD  (Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder)

And the NEW recommendations are raising a lot of eyebrows....

Looks like the Doctors are going to EXPAND the age category for diagnosing ADHD. They USED to put that span of diagnosis between the ages of 6-12.  BUT surprisingly the medical community will NOW include ages 4-18.

How to be Happier at Work

According to research from the Harvard Business School, doing meaningful work and making progress in it make people the happiest on the job.

For many of today’s employees, these two basic elements are missing, and that’s a problem, not only for employees, but for their companies. Unhappy employees are less productive and hurt the bottom line.

This was no small study, they collected nearly 12,000 electronic diary entries from 238 employees in seven different companies.

Bully Proof Your Kids

We know a lot of kids are off for Fall Break and this might be a great time to sit down with your child during this time and bully proof your child.

You may not realize this, but the nation's first anti-bullying law is going into effect in New Jersey this fall.

So what can you do as a parent to bully proof you child?

Cancer Success

This is the last week of September and next week kicks off Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  October is so very important to us because of the Race For The Cure, Oct 22 World's Fair Park. 

But this week....several newspapers reported a NEW cancer treatment! 

So exciting!  

The reports say that trials of the new radioactive treatment have been so successful they have been stopped early as it would have been unethical not to offer all the patients the treatment.

Big Toy Recall

More than 1.7 million toy workshop and tool sets from toy-maker Little Tikes are being recalled because of choking concerns.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the play tool sets have oversized, plastic toy nails that might cause young children to choke.

The recall is an expansion of a 2009 recall of about 1.6 million workshop sets and trucks with the same toy nails. The new recall involves an additional 11 models.

Could You Live on $9 a Day?

We talk a lot about the economy and how there are a lot of people struggling to make ends meet. However, you might be like some American’s and unaffected by the economy and have no clue on what it’s like.

Ask yourself this question, could you live on $8 or $9 an hour?

A computer game called Spent gives you the opportunity to see what it would be like to walk in a poor person’s shoes.

The game starts with a choice: Would you like to be a server, a warehouse worker or a temp?

From there, the choices get more difficult.

Birth Control Recall

Some 1.4-million packages of birth control pills are being recalled because of a packaging error. Qualitest Pharmaceuticals says women could unintentionally become pregnant after taking the affected oral contraceptives.

   According to CNN, some of the blisters inside the pillbox were rotated 180 degrees within the card, reversing the weekly tablet orientation. Because of this, the daily regimen may be incorrect and could leave women at risk for unwanted pregnancy.
