Sitting is Smoking

So, you’re on your way to work and you are sitting in your car. Once you get to work., you’ll sit. So how long do you think you’ll be on your tush? Believe it or not, we sit more than anything else!

Walmart is really stepping up!  They’re putting their “military where their mouth is!”

They have just announced one of the biggest job commitments ever made by a company.  Walmart plans to hire almost any military veteran who wants a job.  It all starts on Memorial Day and they expect to hire 100,000 veterans over the next 5 years.  The program is being offered to any vet who received an honorable discharge from the military within a year of apply for a job. 

Her Fault

When it comes to marriage advice, this guy needs to be punted!

Pat Robertson is at it again! He says because he’s been married for 58 years, he’s an expert. 

And he was been interviewed by an early morning tv show when he made these strangely off center comments:

He blammed awful-looking and stubborn women for failed marriages. 

This past weekend a news story was picking up popularity on the internet with the title, “will longer school year help or hurt US students?”

There are some educators and the Education Secretary are discussing proposals catching on around the country to lengthen the school year.

The downside, a much shorter summer vacation.

The Queen

We must salute the entire senior class of Bolivar High School this morning for something they helped accomplish last Friday. 

Kara Marcum is a down syndrome student there at the high school who loves sparkly shoes. Her smile has a way of just lighting up the hallways and it was her attitude that helped her get elected to the homecoming court, where she was hoping to trade her sparkly shoes in for a tiara and reign as Homecoming Queen. 

Her escort Friday night was Caleb McKinney, who is just one of Kara’s admirers

So by now most of us have gotten ours and OUCH!  The paycheck.  

I think most of us are beginning to feel the pinch from Washington's decision to embrace austerity measures aimed at bringing down the nation's budget deficit.

Dear Ashley and Brad,

Over the weekend I got an interesting wedding invitation from my cousin that really surprised me.

My cousin's invite politely informed my husband and I that we are not invited to be part of her big day!

Keep in mind I heard about the wedding from other family members and I already expected to attend, I even started shopping for a dress.

Can someone explain this invite to me and why she sent it. I would have rather not gotten an invite than feel rejected by a family member.

Is this the new trend among young people?

CONFESSIONS

This is the week we may get the moment of "truth." It happens Thursday, but already the rumors have begun to leak that he WILL confess!!

The word on the street is that Lance Armstrong will make a limited confession to doping during his televised interview with Oprah Winfrey this week.
