If you’ve noticed an increase in cavities with your child and they drink lots of sports or energy drinks there may be a reason why.

According to new research, those sports drinks and energy could be responsible for tooth enamel damage that increases the risk of cavities and decay.

A study in the journal General Dentistry showed that tooth enamel is damaged after being exposed to sports drinks or energy drinks for just five days, with energy drinks causing two times as much enamel damage as the sports drinks.

It must be a slow day in news, but the Today Show scored an exclusive interview the the New Jersey 'tan mom' Patricia Krentcil is out to prove she's a good parent.

The mother of five spoke exclusively with TODAY about the allegations that she took her then-5-year-old daughter to a tanning booth in April.

In the interview she spoke about her very typical home life.

Patricia has been charged with second-degree child endangerment, which carries a prison sentence of up to ten years.

Parents stop Treatments

I want to introduce you to 4 year old Ryan Kennedy: he is dying.  He's gone through 7 rounds of chemotherapy and 4 surgeries.  Ryan has a rare form of brain cancer that he has battled for most of his life.  Doctors do not expect him to live to his 10th birthday.  As you can imagine, his parents have been devastated watching their son endure the pain of his cancer.  Ryan's last surgery left the left side of his face drooped and without feeling.

And you thought Octomom had her hands full—a Tennessee man who has fathered 30 children is asking the courts for a break on child support.

Desmond Hatchett, 33, of Knoxville has children with 11 different women.

The state already takes half his paycheck and divides it up, which doesn't amount to much when Hatchett is making only minimum wage. Some of the moms receive as little as $1.49 a month. The oldest child is 14 years old.

Hatchett explains how he reached such a critical mass: He had four kids in the same year. Twice.

Grayson James Walker was born on February 15, 2012.  He was born with Anencephaly, a rare neural tube birth defect in which a baby is born without parts of the brain and skull.  Action News 5 shared the Walker's story about their sons eight hours of life shortly after he died.

SLEEP APNEA

So how bad is SNORING?  Everybody does it right?  You know the jokes:  sawing logs...waking up the dead...snoring through the walls... But it can get to the point where snoring is dangerous!   Snoring and other types of 'sleep disordered breathing' can deprive the body of enough oxygen for hours at a time.

Scientists now believe having low blood oxygen levels can trigger the development of cancerous tumours, by promoting the growth of the vessels that feed them.

ANOTHER ONE GONE

Bee Gees singer and songwriter Robin Gibb passed away on Sunday (May 20th) at the age of 62. Barry Gibb, along with Robin and his fraternal twin brother Maurice Gibb -- who passed away in 2003 -- formed the Bee Gees in 1958.

A statement from Gibb's spokesperson read: "The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery. The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time."
