Knoxville, Tennessee – July 22, 2014 – The Alzheimer’s Association invites Knoxville residents to “Paint the Park Purple” during the Tennessee Smokies vs. Mississippi Braves baseball game on Thursday, July 24, at the Tennessee Smokies Stadium. Part of the proceeds from ticket and wristband sales will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association Eastern Tennessee Chapter. Gates open at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $10 per person for field level seat, $15 per person for field level seat with meal voucher for a hot dog, chips and drink. Kid Zone wristbands are available for purchase for $5.
The Square Room Dinner Theatre will present “Barefoot in the Park,” a classic play by Neil Simon. The Square Room Dinner Theatre is Knoxville’s only dinner theater.
The pre-fixe menu, catered by Cafe 4, will feature four-courses: a cheese tray, choice of soup or salad, choice of entrée and New York-style cheesecake. The doors will open at 6 p.m., and guests are encouraged to order by 6:30 p.m. to guarantee service before the show begins on the Square Room stage at 7:30 p.m.

A 5K color run benefitting Sevier County Children's Shelter. A non-profit organization that provides emergency shelter, food and clothing to abused, abandoned, neglected and runaway children in Sevier County, ages birth to 17 years.
100% of the net proceeds benefit the shelter.
Date: Saturday, July 26th
Time: Race day registration starts at 6:30 a.m. and the race begins at 8:00 a.m.

Award-winning author Elizabeth Gentry will speak about 'place' and how it informed her dark fairy tale "Housebound" at the Knoxville Writers' Guild's August program.
The event, which will be open to the public, begins at 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 7, at the Laurel Theater, at the corner of Laurel Avenue and 16th Street in Fort Sanders. A $2 donation is requested at the door. The building is handicapped accessible. Additional parking is available at Redeemer Church of Knoxville, 1642 Highland Ave.

Shine, Diamonds All-Stars' senior coed level three competitive cheer team, will hold Ice Cream Socials from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, July 21, Aug. 11 and Aug. 25 at the Sonic Drive-In located in Karns at 7816 Oak Ridge Highway.
The Sonic location will donate ten percent of all sales during that time to Shine, whose athletes hope to travel to competitions as far away as Indianapolis, Ind.; Orlando, Fla.; and Virginia Beach, Va, in the 2014-15 season.
