Celebrate Valentine’s Day weekend with the Farragut Folklife Museum as it hosts the “Quilt Show 2015: The Love of Quilts” on Friday, Feb. 13 through Sunday, Feb. 15 at the Farragut Town Hall.
The quilt show dates and times are as follows: Friday, Feb. 13, 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 14, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sunday, Feb. 15, 1 to 4 p.m. An opening reception in honor of the quilt owners will be held Friday, Feb. 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and will feature a presentation on the history of quilting by local quilter Lynda Wallace at 5:30 p.m.
The Town of Farragut’s annual “Shamrock Ball – A Father-Daughter Dance” celebrates 10 years in 2015! Tickets will be available Monday, Feb. 2 for the event on Saturday, March 7 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Farragut High School Commons.
The Smoky Mountain Orchid Society will host an orchid show & sale, April 18-19, 2015, at Ijams Nature Center in Knoxville, TN. See the beauty and variety of the Orchids exhibited by various orchid societies from the Southeast. Orchid growers will be present to give tips on growing orchids in your home and orchid vendors will offer plants for sale. Orchids on exhibit will be judged by the American Orchid Society. Admission is free. Hours: 9am - 5:00 pm.

"USA Today" bestselling novelist Pamela Schoenewaldt will teach a workshop on improving dialogue from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 28 at the East Tennessee History Center, 601 S. Gay St. Sponsored by the Knoxville Writers' Guild, cost is $35 for KWG members and $40 for nonmembers.
Workshop attendees will, "Learn to recognize and create succinct, effective dramatic dialogue, avoiding common missteps. We'll use exercises, lecture and examples," Schoenewaldt said.

The Great Smoky Mountains Curling Club is hosting two Learn to Curl sessions to promote this great social sport. These sessions will be held on January 11th and 14th beginning 8:15 pm at the Ice Chalet, 100 Lebanon Way, just off Kingston Pike next to Western Plaza. Experience instructors will introduce you to the equipment, the general rules, techniques of curling and strategy. The cost is $10.00 per person for each session. We ask participants under the age of eighteen to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
