It's one of life's simple but powerful truths: When you focus on other people rather than yourself, you make a positive difference for both of you. Taking time to make others feel good may be one of the most gratifying things you do. Here are 6 ways to do it:  1. Encourage. No matter where you are in life, everyone needs some encouragement!  2. Pay compliments. It can be for a job well done or something admirable about them. 3. Praise publicly. Boost someone's confidence by commending them in front of other people-this can be a co-worker, friend or someone serving you, like a clerk or waiter. 4. Listen thoughtfully. Focus on really listening, not just hearing. When you're an attentive listener, people sense your care and concern and are comforted by it. 5. Show genuine interest. Ask about something important to them, then remember their hobbies, job, vacation or family the next time you talk to prove your interest.  6. Give a little gift. It doesn't have to be expensive -- just a small token of thoughtfulness.
