Dine Out For Education
Nearly 40 Knoxville restaurants with 80 locations throughout Knox County will participate in the 10th annual Knox County Schools “Dine Out For Education” event today.
All participants have to do is eat at participating restaurants, and 10 percent of their pretax total will be donated to the Knox County Schools Partners in Education program.
Proceeds from the event will be used for “systemwide initiatives,” such as the annual Knox County Schools Career Day for eighth-graders and high school students, Teacher Supply Depot, Schooled for Success, Barney Thompson scholarships and various teacher recognition programs.
Nearly $20,000 was raised from last year’s event.
Proceeds from past events have been used toward the purchase of a new diagnostic van for vision service programs, online research tools for school libraries and defraying costs of the annual Knox County Schools Career Day.
Two new restaurants to this year’s event are Outback Steakhouse and Papa Murphy’s.
