State Labor Department officials say they have recouped about $15.3
million worth of fraudulently collected unemployment benefits by
garnishing tax refunds and other federal payments to people who were not
entitled to receive the assistance.
A former Democratic candidate for the state House has filed notice that
he will appeal the dismissal of his libel lawsuit against state Sen.
Stacey Campfield.
An investigation by the state comptroller's office found that $51,130
was stolen from the Morristown-Hamblen Humane Society between July 1,
2009 and October 31, 2011.
