The federal Medicare program has dropped nearly a third of the companies chosen to continue supplying home medical equipment to beneficiaries statewide, leaving even fewer suppliers as part of its controversial competitive bidding program set to kick off in Tennessee in less than two weeks.
The city's mayor said that city
leaders decided to lay off three police department workers, two street
department workers, as well as two other city officials. The city's
library will also shut down.
Funeral services were held in Scott County for 17-year-old Shadara
Douglas. She died Wednesday after suddenly collapsing. Doctors believe
she may have had some kind of undiagnosed heart condition.
