The United States Preventative Service Task Force recommends:
- Women ages 50 to 74 years should get a mammogram every 2 years.
- Women younger than age 50 should talk to a doctor about when to start and how often to have a mammogram
Warning Signs of Breast Cancer
- Lump, hard knot or thickening inside the breast or thickening inside the breast or underarm area
- Swelling, warmth, redness or darkening of the breast
- Change in the size or shape of the breast
- Dimpling or puckering of the skin
- Itchy, scaly sore or rash on the nipple
- Pulling in of your nipple or other parts of the breast
- Nipple discharge that start suddenly
- New pain in one spot that does not go away
