Congratulations to this group of girls from the FC Alliance!
The FC Alliance 2010G-RL team set out with lofty goals at the beginning of the season but never imagined reaching this stage.
In the USYS league, they scored 53 goals in the season and only allowed 18, which sounds impressive enough, but their journey to Nationals was definitely one for the record books, with three games going into double overtime and two going to penalty kicks.
For those that aren’t aware, there are 35-minute halves. For the USYS State and Regional competitions, if you’re tied at the end of regulation play, you go into a 10-minute overtime. If you’re still tied at the end of 10 minutes, you get a second 10-minute overtime.
Finally, you go to penalty kicks. Goalkeeper against 5 different kickers. The one you score the most of the 5 PKs…wins.
In the Tennessee State Semifinals, FC’s penalty kicks by Ella Lifsey, Evie Karb, Jane Perry Collins, and Aliyah Sellew landed and their goalkeeper, Kendyl Haun, stopped the opponent’s kick for the win. A week later, in the Tennessee State Finals, they were crowned Tennessee State Champions after another nail-biting double OT and penalty kicks. This time, Ella Lifsey, Evie Karb, Maddie Pitt, Jane Perry Collins, and Emma Baker landed kicks with a save from goalkeeper, Kendyl Haun for the win.
Head Coach: Kable Nunally
Assistant Coach: Will Turcios
The State championship won them a bid to regionals in South Carolina. They lost The championship game in double overtime again but it earned them a spot to compete at the USYS Nationals President’s Cup in Wichita, KS July 6-11, something FC hasn’t accomplished since 2009.
The girls are currently fundraising to help pay for the trip.

As they prepare for the nationals, they’re asking for donations to help. You can text ‘letsgofc’ to 53555, to get the team to Kansas for those games.
