Organizers of the Toys for Tots/Bikes for Tikes event with the US Marines held at Concord Marina Saturday say it’s the best year yet.
They had a goal of collecting 110 bikes and surpassed that goal with 155, or two truck loads.
Doug Bridle says, “Thank you to all of you for helping make sure kids (who might not have) have presents and new toys on Christmas. I can’t imagine a child with nothing to open.”
Santa was also at the marina, on his way home from the Bahamas, and taking photos with families.
Bridle says they also collected a ton of toys and $8,000 in cash.
A group of us at B97.5, including Maria Haun, Gina Clower, Jane Cade, Joye Riddle, Ashley Adams and Jennifer Terry donated four new bicycles, an electric guitar and amplifier, some trains, barbie dolls and cars.
I happily brought the items to the collection site and even got to catch up with Santa who says he loves any kind of cookie!
The Marines will make sure the bicycles and toys get to families in need.
Bridle and his family started the toy/bike collection with friends several years ago, but it has outgrown having it in his home.
