We’ve all had “friends” who we thought were true friends, only to find out they really weren’t. Sad, but true.
Friends should make you happy and bring comfort and fun to your life. The thing is, you don’t always know in the moment that someone’s not a real friend. To help you out, experts say look out for these qualities. If your “friend” has them, they’re not a real friend:
They pit you against other “friends”
They’re MIA in tough times
They gossip behind your back
They talk but never listen
They don’t accept you for who you are
They’re inconsistent and unreliable
They don’t celebrate your successes
They don’t respect your boundaries
They’re energy vampires
They’re jealous and competitive
They judge you
If your “friends” have these qualities, experts say it’s time to walk away.
