On a budget, but you still wanna make your house the spooky one on the block? There are some ways around spending hundreds of dollars on decorations!
- One easy way to cut back is simply by using dark colors. Go with black, red, and other darker colors. Use those colors around the house to create a Halloween vibe….think dark candles, throw pillows and blankets to create a little spookiness. If you’re crafty, you can create pillow covers with fabric you already have or even make a slipcover for your usual throw pillows.
- Use last year’s Christmas garland and paint it black to hang inside or outside.
- For your mantle, look for black -bound books, vintage candle holders and fill vases with dead branches
- You could also go for a white theme with white pumpkins, skeletons, cobwebs, white-bound book stacks
- Wrap gauze around mason jars and slap on some googly eyes for fun candle holders
- Make minimalist ghosts using cotton balls wrapped in a small cut fabric from old white t shirts. Tie them at the neck with twine and hang them around the house
- Place fake insects in your hand soap for a creepy vibe
- For dinner table settings, you can use black spider rings for napkin rings. You can also use those fake spiders to decorate your doors
- Make paper bats and spiders and hang them in different locations
- Use trash bags to create spiderwebs
- You can also make tombstones for your yard with a box, some newspaper and glue!
- Grab some old clothes, stuff ‘em with newspaper and put on a mask for the head for a creepy “person”
- You can create yarn pumpkins for a more traditional look, using orange yarn and green pipe cleaner
