Tired, irritable, and not quite yourself? We tend to associate those symptoms with menopause, but here’s the twist: men can also experience their own version of age-related hormonal upheaval.
As many as 40% of men over 45 experience symptoms of low testosterone, including fatigue, brain fog, weight gain, poor sleep, mood changes, and low libido. Unlike menopause, this shift—often called andropause—happens gradually, so many men don’t recognize it.
Instead, they might say they’ve “lost their edge,” feel constantly tired, or struggle to recover from exercise. Because the symptoms creep in slowly, they’re often dismissed as normal aging.
The good news: a simple blood test can help identify low testosterone, and many cases improve with lifestyle changes like better sleep, nutrition, and exercise.
If something feels off, in him, or in your relationship—it’s worth talking about. And more importantly, it’s worth checking out. Left untreated, low testosterone can impact long-term health—but caught early, it’s often reversible.
Hormones, as it turns out, don’t play favorites.
P.S. Hope you enjoy this picture of my husband…being his silly self. 🙂
