Back-to-school shopping can add up fast, but Knox County families have several opportunities to pick up free school supplies before the first day of school.
Knox County’s annual School Supply Slam is back, bringing together local businesses, nonprofit organizations, churches, and volunteers to help make sure students start the school year with the supplies they need.
The biggest event is School Mania, happening Friday, July 24, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the parking lot of the Jacob Building at Chilhowee Park. Families can receive free school supplies while supplies last.
To make it easier for families across the county, additional distribution events will be held in neighborhoods throughout Knox County. Most locations will be open Saturday, July 25, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

- Riella at Grosvenor Square (hosted by Knoxville Mission Church): Saturday, July 25, from noon to 2:00 p.m.
