The community is coming together to remember Loudon County Sheriff Office Sergeant Chris Jenkins, a 20 year veteran killed Thursday.
The celebration of life will be held today at the high school gym followed by his burial. The sheriff says those wanting to pay tribute should gather along the procession route -along Highway 11 in downtown Loudon and it should start around 1:30 pm.
Tennessee Highway Patrol says Sergeant Jenkins was removing a ladder from the highway (75) when he was hit and killed by a semi.
The driver of that Semi Christopher Savannah remains in jail on a $1 million bond. THP says he was driving without a license and a flat tire.
A second man charged in the death of Sergeant Jenkins is 35 yr old Sonny Beason of Loudon County. Trooopers say he was driving on 75 last Thursday when a loose ladder fell off his truck. It was that ladder Sgt. Jenkins was trying to remove when he was hit and killed.
Beason faces charges of driving on a suspended license and three counts of misdemeanor reckless endangerment.
