Miley and Millie are being treated like queens by their adopted families. Both were adopted into loving homes and are adjusting well. Their families say both are putting on some L-B’s like they should be.
Some of us thought the girls might be a boxer mix, or even part beagle. But that is not the case. We swabbed Miley before she was adopted. And, when the doggy DNA/Incestry results came back, we were all shocked!

22 breeds detected and these are the top 2?
Chihuaha 34%
Dachsund 8%
Looks like they’ll be smaller dogs. But it doesn’t matter what breed and size the girls are, they have forever homes with families who love them unconditionally.

Wow, what a wild couple of weeks! It had been a while since I raised a puppy, so it took a small army to help with two. They received lots of love from all of us here at the station, and even family members of staff and their friends. With that said, special thanks to Samantha Brody and Lee Jordan for their fostering skills and sleepless nights. Also, to Valerie Anderton for tons of toys and doggy gear!
My rescue, MargauxRhita, wanted nothing to do with the puppies, ignored them all she could. I already knew she wanted to be an only child and she proved that every day recently. So, I knew I was exempt from the adoption. And, since my close friends are already dog/pet owners, they were too.
None of us wanted to say good-bye. Knowing these 8 week old pups (now about 10 weeks old,) were thrown to the curb, dumped on the side of a road, we all just wanted to hold them forever and never let them get hurt, be neglected or abandoned ever again. That’s why they needed the BEST fur-ever homes and the adoption process would be VERY selective.
I am very happy to say the girls’ new owners are family to us at our Midwest Communications radio station group in Knoxville. We are all very excited for Gracie and Ian to give “Millie” the best home ever!!! And Jason Smith of Liberty Chiropractic to do the same with “Miley!”
Since the owners are close friends to the station, we are fortunate to be able to watch the sister pups grow and keep up with their antics! We’re also anxious to see what they will be, (what kind of breed- since it is still questionable until our DNA tests come back) and how big they will get. I do know that their new owners have huge hearts and will give Millie and Miley lots of love!
XOXO

Previous story:
Just a normal Tuesday morning, or so I thought.
As I am heading into work around 4:30AM, getting my last dose of Intelligence for Your Life with John Tesh (about caloric intake and the pros of keeping a food diary,) I see something out of the corner of my eye on Ludlow Street.
Now, mind you, I do drive a little faster than the numbers posted suggest, and it’s early so, I kind of question myself… did I just see some eyes staring at me? Was that a raccoon? Or…? Maybe it was a dog?? Hmmmm….
I flipped the car around so fast, turned my headlights on the eyes I thought I saw, and there they were. Not one, but TWO puppies!
There they were sitting beside a white milk crate lined on the bottom with an old pink bed sheet and a half a bag of puppy chow.
As I approached them, they came running towards me. OMG! How precious.. and here it is Stray Dog Day!
So I gathered the two girls up and placed them in the crate and headed for the B97.5 studio. I had to get news ready and be on the air soon.
I sent pictures with the words “HELP” to one of our sales reps, Lee. She is the dog whisperer, the collector of stray and abandoned dogs, no matter the size, gender, or condition. Lee rushed to the station armed with the gear needed for doggy day care.
She took them out to potty, then to a quiet, private office to feed them with food, water and lots of love.
As staff began to file in for the day, even more love was shown to these abandoned, sweet girls. Tails did not stop wagging until they decided to catch naps in between visits.
This afternoon, we made it to the the vet to get checked out, shots, de-wormed, and flea meds. Then, it was bath-time. Did you know DAWN dish soap gets rid of fleas?? It sure does.
BTW, I cannot thank Butler Animal Clinic enough.. squeezing us in and as always with extremely affordable prices.
These girls are a true blessing, already “doing their business” on pee pads at work and then outside this afternoon. But, even more-so, knowing it was the birthday of our late G.M., Randy Ross, these sisters brought tons of joy and wet kisses to what could have been a very somber day.
This was a fortunate day for the 8 week old-4.25 lb fur balls, and for us at B97.5. These girls are destined for the perfect fur-ever home(s).
And, as much as this has been bittersweet day, PLEASE… PLEASE know you can bring unwanted pets to shelters. They have a better chance of survival and at a wonderful life. There are many of us out there who will adopt and not shop.
Also, as Bob Barker always said, “Spay and neuter your pets.”
Simply,
Silva
