Looking to add a furry member to your family? Shelter pets make the best pets! You can always find a sweet dog, cat, rabbit, guinea pig, and more at Young-Williams Animal Center and Humane Society of the TN Valley. They even have adoption specialists to help you match and find the right pet for your family.
Young-Williams is way over capacity (50+ over), so it would be a great time to adopt, especially with all the summertime adventures happening right now!
Young- Williams has 2 locations, one at 3201 Division St and another at 6400 Kingston Pike. Humane Society of the TN Valley is located at 6717 Kingston Pike in Bearden.
Stop by and you just might find your next best friend.
Here are this week’s “Pets of the Week”
Young-Williams Animal Shelter
Tahari and Annika
Say Hello to Tahari!
Meet Tahari is a 2-year-old mixed-breed sweetheart and the quickest way to her heart is through…treats! At 47 pounds, she’s a gentle soul who likes to take life one careful step at a time. New experiences can feel a little overwhelming, but a handful of tasty snacks, some kind words, and a patient friend to remind her the world isn’t so scary after all. Once she begins to relax, you’ll see her soft side as she leans in for scratches, nudges your hand for more affection and happily checks in for another treat.
Tahari is looking for a family that understands the magic of going slow. She enjoys sniffing the grass, quietly watching the world go by and building trust at her own pace. With familiar people, she’s affectionate, people-oriented and eager to connect. Give Tahari a little patience, a pocket full of treats and a safe place to call home, and you’ll be rewarded with a loyal best friend who blossoms a little more every single day.
Meet Annika!
Spend just a few minutes with Annika, and you’ll quickly discover what a sweetheart she is. This affectionate, wiggly girl loves following her favorite people around, asking for pets, and showing off her playful personality with toys, walks, and treats.
She’s done well with other dogs in shelter playgroups and is incredibly food-motivated, making her a great candidate for continued positive training. 7-year-old Annika is ready to bring her big smile, wagging tail, and loving heart to a family of her own.

Scooter and Missy
Scooter
Meet Scooter, a 3-year-old, 70-pound bundle of love who’s convinced he’s a lap dog! This handsome boy is wonderful with other dogs and great with kids. During a recent adoption trial, the family’s 8-month-old was a little unsure of him, but Scooter couldn’t have been sweeter or more gentle. Scooter loves chasing a frisbee, has plenty of energy for adventures and playdates, and is always ready to explore the world by your side. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, affectionate best friend, Scooter is ready to steal your heart!
Missy
Meet Missy, a 2-year-old sweetheart who’s ready to leave motherhood behind and enjoy life as someone’s beloved companion! This lovable girl adores people and has no known history of negative interactions with kids, cats, or other dogs, making her a wonderful addition to many different types of families. After raising a litter of puppies, Missy is ready for a home where she can be the one getting spoiled. Her favorite pastime? Lounging on the couch right beside her favorite people. If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate best friend who loves to relax as much as she loves to love, Missy is waiting to meet you!
